John Green Memorial Scholarship Match Recap

playersPhase I of the 2015 Inaugural John Green Memorial Scholarship match was a success. A success from the context of turn out first of all. 26 scholar athletes were registered in advance. Over 50 scholar athletes showed up representing approximately 14 different high schools across central Jamaica and Kingston. That did not diminish the quality of football on display. In fact it added to it. Some talented players that were not well known and registered had an opportunity to display their talents.

The level of discipline on and off the field on the day was very high. That was aided by the presence of FIFA certified referees and coaches from several of the high schools to showed up to support their players. The weather was a warm 85 degrees throughout the day with no rain. The facilities were of a high quality.

What’s Next:

Phase II of the event will involve working to support those selected to help them maneuver the administrative procedures related to the SAT and NCAA Eligibility Center certification and other administrative requirements of college entrance. We hope to make this an annual event which will continue to open more doors for our youth scholar athletes.
