Day with Supernova: High School

Picture

On January 3, 2010, we had a day long bonding session with the high school students (Kadian, Zoya, Stephanie, and Jessica). We started with some bonding games where we got to learn about each other. We started with sharing 2 true things about ourself and one false thing. We then had to guess which of them was actually false.

We then explored what each of our most valued possessions were, what we were most proud of, and what makes each of us different. Stephanie shared her most valued possession is her relationship with her mother. Kadian shared that she is most proud of being Jamaican.  As you can tell we had a very productive day. Pictures of the day and its activities are in our Photo Gallery.

We learned just what it truly means to be a Supernova STAR. What is expected of each and every one of them, and the many things there are to gain with being in this program. Excitement of the Clinic being established in the community was a joy to see, as the children shared stories of the times they or someone they loved wanted to see a doctor but could not.

This led to a discussion on how matters like Diabetes, Teen Pregnancy, High Cholesterol, good nutrition etc are truly affecting their community. We anticipate working on the Clinic Clean Up to begin our work in the neighborhood.

The rest of this week hold even more activities and photos. So please come back so you stay up to date with Supernova.
